Playground
On Saturday morning, I shot Sierra and Shamyra on the playground. They were quite active and fast so it was definitely the most challenging shoot of the weekend! Here are some shots!
Barnyard Animals
On Sunday, we took Destiny to the farm. She loved the animals and I got some great smiles and other faces out of her! Here are some of the shots!
Hello Again!
It's been a while but that's only because I've been super busy! This weekend I did four shoots and they all were great! I've been editing for a while now and the first set of photos I want to share are of Courtney and Jenna! We got together Friday night and had a really fun shoot! I wish I could put up all the funny and cute outtakes but unfortunately I won't have time today! So here are my picks!

Hours
I cannot believe it's already 9 o'clock! I've been shooting my advertisement all night! I decided to make my ad a composite instead of taking my time shooting. But really? Who wants to spend hours trying to get nail polish to cooperate? Not to mention it's nearly impossible! So, Photoshop, here I come!
I so badly want to go home this weekend but I have a feeling I won't be able to. This week has been overwhelming and quite frankly... not fun. I wish I could shoot only kids and teens for the rest of my career! That would make me so happy! Commercial Studio and I just can't seem to get along! But i'll be back in there tomorrow attempting to shoot my Reflective Metal again.

DONE!
Career Business Plan: DONE! What a relief! I can't even begin to explain my morning. It's amazing how much negative AND positive adrenaline you can get from a deadline! My assignment got turned in three minutes before the carts were taken away but when it was over for me I watched as people came running across the corner sneaking their folders into the carts as they were being pulled away... (NOT FAIR!)
Now all I have to get done is my Phase 3 photo assignments and of course, being me, I save the most complicated ones for last. That's a habit I really need to break.
It's only 9:30 but it's off to bed for me. Today was a long day!
New picture updates will be up when I have more energy!

Early day.
I did it! I got to school on time to get lights! I don't have class until one so I decided to take a trip to Stop&Shop to pick up some whipped cream to make some hot chocolate. I was determined not to go back to sleep and miss my afternoon classes.
I'm standing in line at the self-checkout (yes, at 8am) and as i'm waiting for the early morning shopper in front of me to bag her groceries I see a Vanity Fair magazine. Now, I've become very good at saying No to myself when I want to buy something pointless (such as magazines and books I judge by the cover). So usually I just look through them and put them back. But Jesse was in this one! I couldn't resist. I put it back on the stand and then the little devil on my shoulder gave me the excuse that I could use it for "photographic inspiration". Hello Christen, you don't want to be a fashion photographer! Oh and you are a Hallmark student. You don't have cash to spare! But the excuse seemed valid enough and I walked out with my five dollar magazine letting my pointless spending take hold of me.
But c'mon... I love Jesse Eisenberg!
I'm going home tonight since I don't have any classes anymore. I have two doctors appointments to try to get my sleeping situation figured out! Then I have a fun but busy weekend planned ahead of me!
Between today and tomorrow I have to finish my Business Plan (due monday). I'm freaking out... but just a little!

New Website!
I feel so accomplished today. My website is up (Check it out: www.christenferris.com) , I got my new promo card done and I finished my stationary! I also got some great feedback on my Phase III work from some amazing instructors!
I got my first e-mail today requesting to reserve a date on my calendar (on the website). I was so excited to hear from a potential client! But then I opened it and it was even better!
Date Requested: 6_5_2011
Name: Courtney Thomas
Time: ALL DAY
Location: MY HOUSE
Message: THIS IS MY BIRTHDAY SO YOU'RE SPENDING IT WITH ME :]
Silly Girl! Making me smile again!
Tomorrow I have to get up super early to get equipment because Dad found me a family to shoot. I wish the school would open the equipment room after school for those of us who are not morning people or who just have plain bad luck getting to school on time.
It's crazy how one can get up so early and leave the house at a decent time and still not get to school on time due to school buses, handicapped school buses, slow drivers, or super long traffic lights. Oh and my personal favorite having to sit at a road work site for 13 minutes because the cop decides to ignore one side of the traffic. I was really so excited to get my equipment that day. I'm tellin' ya Hallmark, it's pure bad morning luck!
Everyone please wish me luck for tomorrow morning! I desperately need lights!
and....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GARY!

Yep, I finally broke down. So here's my blog. I've never really had a legit blog before, only the middle school ones where you complain about friends, give hints to crushes, and search for hours for a new background. So I would most certainly call myself a beginner at this!
This weekend I did two shoots filled with great fun and catching up. On Saturday I shot Jenna. Jenna is my best friend, Courtney's little sister. I always love shooting her because she's super photogenic and she is perfect for soft portraiture. I decided to photograph her using window light bringing out her beauty through natural lighting . Oh, and also because I didn't get to school early enough to check out lighting equipment (as usual!).
I had done another shoot two days before this one and I tried going for a wintery look. I liked how the pictures came out but when I was brainstorming ideas for Jenna's shoot, I thought she would be perfect to do a wintery look with.
The outside shooting didn't last very long. I got the frames I needed and didn't shoot extra. Poor Jenn had wind gusting in her face causing her eyes to tear which caused her eye makeup to go every which way!
It was great being at the Thomas residence again. Even though Court wasn't there I still had a great time catching up with Jenn and Mrs. Thomas. Court is coming home on the 4th and i'm so excited! 1. Because I miss her ALOT. and 2. Because I still have her Christmas gift!
On Sunday, Mom and I traveled 2 hours to Boston. Of course I slept the whole way :) We were meeting Anthony at the Prudential Center for a Fashion based shoot. Anthony has been a great friend for years. He's one of the most interesting people I know and he keeps getting fiercer and fiercer. He is currently studying at the Boston Conservatory. Watch out for him! This handsome devil is certainly going places!
Now I'm back to school, shooting and editing, shooting and editing. I had a rough time in Commercial Studio this evening and gave up on the whole Reflective Metal shoot. Oh well, tomorrow's another day!
